Computing in a single room. One machine served a whole institution, and everyone came to it.
- 1960s and 1970s
- One machine for a whole institution
- Time on it booked and shared
AI will soon read the scans, design the trials and price the risks behind the world's most important decisions.
Data centres will be built at an extraordinary pace, and it still won't be enough.
One roof at a time, rooftop solar made the power grid larger, faster to build and harder to take down.
We're building AI compute the same way, from thousands of independent sites that are private by default, keep a record of every run and work together as one grid.
Then every hospital, lab, bank and city can run its own intelligence, on its own terms.
Computing in a single room. One machine served a whole institution, and everyone came to it.
A room of racks in every company. Computing moved closer to the work, and each company ran its own.
One building, hundreds of megawatts, a single operator. The server rooms emptied into a few giant campuses.
Thousands of independent sites working as one. Capacity comes online one site at a time, private by default.
No single company should own the world's compute, or the upside of intelligence. Our grid is assembled from many independent sites and runs on open source and open-weight models. Anyone with space and power can host part of it, and everyone who supplies capacity shares in what it earns.
Privacy is where every deployment starts. Each workload runs sealed, isolated and encrypted, out of sight of the site that hosts it. Data, prompts and models stay with the people they belong to, and they never become someone else's training data.
Our customers answer to regulators, auditors and patients, so we hold our own work to the same standard. Every run leaves a record, and every claim we make about privacy is one a customer can prove to someone else without taking our word for it.
We say what works today and what doesn't yet, to customers, hosts and investors alike. When something goes wrong, we say so first and show what we changed. Trust comes from the record.
Customers keep their applications, agents and workflows, including the agents we build with them. Hosts share in what their sites earn. We own our outcomes, including the ones that go wrong.
